Advent Devotional
Advent in May? Come on! You’ve got to be kidding. In the next few weeks, Rev. Katrina will be extending an open invitation to our congregation to join us in writing the devotional material for this year’s Advent Family Devotional which will be published in November and distributed at our Thanksgiving Family Homecoming Meal. Please be in prayer as to how you may be a contributor to this exciting opportunity of doing ministry to encourage us during the season of Advent 2012.

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS
When I came to CUMC last November, I challenged you to join our Children Ministry in reaching out to our community by bringing in candy canes so that we might distribute Candy Cane Invitations for “Elfstravaganza” and you responded fabulously. This Spring, we are excited to expand the opportunity to impact our community through the utilization of “RAK” cards in everyday situations. We have business cards printed for each of you to use this month. Simply look around you and see where you can practice being the presence of Christ in the life of someone - - pay for the one behind you at the drive in window when you buy breakfast on the way to work, give a card to the attendant and leave one for the car behind you; go to the local Laundromat with a roll of quarters and put few coins in for a busy mom with a child in tow, pass her a card; purchase a dozen doughnuts from Daylight and drop it by your child’s front office at school with a card attached; - - you get the idea and I am sure you have even more ways you can impact our community. And when you run out, let us know and we will be glad to give you some more.   Get ready CUMC, this is an easy way to reach out into our community around us and have a positive impact and it provides an opening to invite others to join us for worship. Cards will be available for pick up May 15th.

Rice Bowls for Hunger Collection Sunday, May 20th
Rice Bowls for every family are still available from Rev. Katrina’s office. From April 29th through May 19th, we are challenging all of our families to place a “Rice Bowl” for loose change in the center of your dining room table or on your kitchen island where you eat your meals and when the bowls are full bring them in for our special collection service on Sunday, May 20th. If you fill up your bowl before May 20th, please feel free to ask for another bowl and always you are welcome to share this time of ministry with your friends and neighbors by asking them to join us as we work towards offsetting hunger in our world.

FireProof
Coming Soon to A Fellowship Hall Family Movie Night
A movie of a lifetime for families about relationships that you will not want to miss. Be on the lookout for more information in the month of May as we prepare to screen “FireProof” together. Dave Razo will be offering a study on relationships following the showing later this summer. If you know of couples and families who may benefit from seeing this movie, I want to encourage you to begin to tap them on the shoulder now to join us for the upcoming times of family worship during the months of May and June as we prepare for this special movie time.

Blessings, Rev. Katrina
