Christ United Methodist Church is continuing to discern how we can be faithful as we follow God and fruitful as we join God in his good works in the world. As a congregation we are discerning what will best position our congregation to be in ministry in Houston County. We ask that our entire congregation be in prayer and diligent in their efforts to be informed and open to God's leading during this season of our church.
FREQUENTLY Asked Questions
These are questions that we have received from some of our church and questions we have heard others asking.
We don't know yet. We are still in the beginning phases of discerning the will of the congregation. The Leadership of our church is first seeking to help communicate information about all of the issues facing the United Methodist Church to our congregation and to then identify how we can be in ministry with one another.
The South Georgia Conference Trustees have created an opportunity for local congregations more time to pray and discern the best path forward for their congregation. By using an existing option for a church to leave the denomination churches in South Georgia have until December 2024 to leave The United Methodist Church while keeping their property under paragraph ¶2549.
